Oakland Cemetery's history is intertwined
with Civil War battles fought in Atlanta and nearby towns. Visitors
have the opportunity to stand at the site where Gen. Hood watched
the Battle of Atlanta, to hear the story of the Great Locomotive
Chase and Andrews' Raiders and to see the Lion of Atlanta that
marks the graves of the unknown Civil War soldiers.

Meet in the Visitors Center, 248 Oakland Avenue

MARTA: East rail line to King Memorial Station. Exit the
station and walk south on Grant Street. Turn left at stop sign
onto MLK Drive. You will be facing Oakland's front gates.
