The Herndon Home Foundation is offering guided
tours of this National Historic Landmark, which tells the story
of Atlanta's first Black millionaire, Alonzo Herndon, who rose
from slavery to leadership in business, education, culture and
philanthropy. Designed by Herndon, founder of Atlanta Life Insurance
Company, and his wife Adrienne McNeil Herndon, a drama teacher
at Atlanta University, the 15-room home was built by Black craftsmen
in 1910.
