Atlanta in 1861 was a recently established
railroad town that was developing as a mercantile hub. By 1864,
it was one of the major manufacturing, supply, transportation,
training, and military administration centers for the Confederacy.
All the buildings from that era are gone, but come see the sites
where they once stood. The tour will be led by Charlie Crawford,
president of the Georgia Battlefields Association, a private
non-profit organization that seeks to preserve Civil War sites
throughout the state.
