Elbert P. Tuttle US Court of Appeals Tour of Exterior
Tuesday March, 09 2010 11:00 AM

Guided tour offered by the US General Services Administration of the exterior of the 1910 Elbert P. Tuttle US Court of Appeals Building. This Second Renaissance Revival building was completed in 1910 as Atlanta’s United States Post Office and Courthouse and later became the home of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. In 1989 the building was renamed for Elbert Parr Tuttle who, as an attorney, successfully argued a number of landmark civil rights cases and, as a Judge, heard many cases involving voter registration, civil liberties, school desegregation and job discrimination. In 1981 Judge Tuttle was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
